Proposed Medicaid Changes Will Hurt Wisconsin
Stand up for BadgerCare! The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) released proposals that could cause thousands of Wisconsinites to lose access to health insurance.
DHS is seeking federal approval of waivers (exceptions to federal laws) in order to significantly change BadgerCare for childless adults by:
- Charging monthly premiums for almost all childless adults below the poverty level;
- Imposing a 48-month eligibility limit;
- Requiring drug screenings as a condition of eligibility; and
- Making referrals to treatment programs for those who test positive for drug use.
These changes would significantly increase the number of uninsured Wisconsinites, make our state less healthy, and impede efforts to increase the Wisconsin workforce. Learn more here about the substance of the proposals
Complete this form and tell the Department of Health Services that moving forward with these proposals would hurt, not help Wisconsin.
