Don't Let the Senate Policing Reform Bill Get Weakened

The MA Senate adjourned yesterday without taking further action on their police reform and accountability bill after one Republican senator put a hold on the bill.

Police are flooding legislators with calls and emails demanding that they take out key accountability provisions, and conservative Democrats and Republicans are getting antsy about, if not oppositional to, the idea of passing legislation at all.

Can you let your state senator know that you oppose any effort to weaken the bill?

Of key importance here is Section 10 of the bill, which limits qualified immunity so that an officer could be liable in civil cases if an officer uses excessive force.

Every police officer in your city or town who doesn't believe that they should be accountable for their own actions has contacted your state senator.

The question is: Will you?
