Don't Cut Arts Funding in LA

Arts and Park Lovers! WE NEED YOUR HELP

The 2026-2027 proposed City of LA budget cuts $800,000 in funding for part-time staff at the Department of Cultural Affairs.

At Barnsdall Art Park and other Art Centers, the City relies on part-time, as-needed Art Instructors, Gallery Attendants, and more to run classes, programs, and open its doors. This budget cut will have a major impact on community access and offerings at Hollyhock House, the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Barnsdall Arts Center, Barnsdall Junior Arts Center, and Barnsdall Gallery Theatre.

When "Salaries As-Needed" funding was reduced this year, exhibitions had to be cut, facilities remained closed on Sundays, and fewer low-cost classes for youth and adults could be offered. Next year’s proposed cuts would shutter programs that our communities have come to rely on.

Last year, we asked you to share your voice and wow, did you come through! YOU saved jobs and helped keep Hollyhock House (LA’s only UNESCO World Heritage site) open.

We are calling upon our community once again to help us save staff and programming at Barnsdall Art Park and across LA. Demand support for arts and culture in LA and increased access and offerings at our City's beloved art centers—especially heading into the 2028 games.

Send a letter to City Council today. Your voice makes the difference!
