On April 11, Drexel RAs won their union election with 94% of RAs voting union yes to join OPEIU Local 153.

Since the election, Drexel RAs have prepared for bargaining, working on nearly 20 proposals. The RA Union has reached out to Drexel’s Director of Labor Relations, Xavier Johnson, with dates for bargaining for four consecutive weeks. Mr. Johnson has denied all of these dates and is seeking to push bargaining past the Mid-June end of the quarter.

This delay is unnecessary and unlawful. The Drexel RA Union is filing an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the federal government’s National Labor Relations Board, charging Drexel with bad faith negotiations by delaying providing any dates for bargaining. But justice through the federal process is too slow to get dates this academic year.

We call on Drexel to schedule initial negotiation sessions with the RA Union before the end of this quarter! Bargain in good faith now!
