Background: Amu Gib has been held on remand since July 2025, 3 months longer than the normal pre-trial custody of 6 months on the grounds that there is a “terrorist connection” to their alleged offence of involvement in spray painting warplanes on the runway at RAF Brize Norton in protest at British complicity in genocide.

They have experienced regular violations of their rights, including during a 49 day hunger strike. This has included withholding their post and belongings, and even banning 2 of their closest loved ones from visits.

Post has not been blocked by security, which means that reception and general staff are withholding post with no valid reason. Receiving and sending letters is vital for Amu, as they have currently no access to the internet, messaging apps or email and only limited access to phone calls.

Staff have also been withholding some of their books for the entire duration of their time on remand, and have only allowed them a few books in possession at a time, despite written acknowledgement from the prison following a previous complaint that there is no limit on books allowed according to prison policy.

Last week, Amu was handed a whole shoebox of incoming post and a whole bag of outgoing post prison staff have been withholding. Some of the items delayed or withheld included post from over 4 months ago, including Christmas cards, letters to and from fellow Palestine hunger striker Heba Muraisi, a birthday card for a friend, and to children. Letters related to their healthcare, their legal case and their campaign for election to Islington Council have also been lost, withheld or massively delayed.

On top of this, Bronzefield staff placed Amu in solitary confinement a few months ago, and lost/confiscated most of their clothes and belongings during that process. To this day, Bronzefield staff have not returned Amu's belongings and have refused to accept the replacement clothes that have been dropped at Bronzefield reception for Amu. For months now, Amu has only had one change of clothes.

Please take action now by sending the letter to Bronzefield Governor, Charlotte Wilson.
