End anti-Jewish propaganda at Berkeley Heights Public Schools

Under the current DEI director’s supervision curriculum at the Berkeley Heights Public Schools are teaching about the Israel and Hamas war using heavily biased and anti-Jewish "sources.” What is being taught is not only not factual, but is leading to impressionable minds believing this anti-Jewish rhetoric. At a time where colleges are flooded with antisemitic incidents, it is important we nip this in the bud and start addressing what is happening in public schools.

One example of what the Berkeley Heights school system has produced is a former student who was caught ripping down posters of hostages and replacing them with flyers saying "You are supporting a genocide" and "Tearing this down? Do you have a guilty conscience, colonizer?"\

This sadly is not surprising considering that the schools' DEI director allows curriculum that includes "sources" such as Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, and the BBC. More information on the curriculum can be found at the following link. (https://www.israellycool.com/2023/11/27/berkeley-heights-public-schools-troubling-misinformation-on-the-israeli-palestinian-arab-conflict/)

If they are going to teach DEI and conflicts in the Middle East, it needs to be taught properly and not cause further harm or bias toward already heavily targeted minorities—like Jews.

For this reason, we are calling on the following decision makers to make sure the DEI curriculum is only using unbiased/academic sources:
1. Dr. Melissa Varley, Superintendent
2. Robert Nixon, Principal, Governor Livingston High School
3. Angela Penna, President, Board of Education
4. Joy Young, Vice President, Board of Education

5. Stephen Hopkins, DEI Director/Social Studies Supervisor

Please join us in sending an email to take a stand not only for Jewish students in their schools, but to stop the surge of anti-Jewish rhetoric before it reaches college campuses.
