SFUSD: Take action to fix Empower now!

Enough is enough! San Francisco Educators are fed up with the ongoing payroll and benefits issues stemming from the transition to EMPOWER. As we prepare to welcome our students back to school, we need to know that SFUSD is moving quickly to fix this broken system and stabilize our schools.

We're educators, not payroll and benefits experts. We shouldn't have to start this school year with more pickets and rallies to get our basic needs met. We need SFUSD to get their act together and do the following:

  • Fully staff the payroll office

  • Hold weekly in-person payroll office hours after school where we can go and get our issues fixed

  • Honor the contract and MOUs SFUSD agreed to and pay educators the outstanding stipends, interest, and bank fees from the last school year NOW

  • Pay educators for work done over the summer

  • Make our Early Ed educators whole

  • Fix 403b and health benefit contributions

In addition to fixing the ongoing EMPOWER disaster, we also demand a 6.5 percent COLA pay increase. The Revised Governor's Budget released an additional $70 million to SFUSD to implement a COLA increase. The state of California has made it clear that they are prioritizing students and educators, and we need SFUSD to do the same.
