Tell the EPA that Prisoners Deserve Environmental Justice
There are about 2.4 million people who live in the United States but are effectively ignored by the Environmental Protection Agency. How is this possible? They live in prisons.
It is appalling that our government is exempting millions of people from basic environmental and health safeguards. Prisoners aren't the only ones harmed by this indifference — prison guards, visitors, and neighbors feel the harmful effects of toxic policies.
Send a letter telling the EPA: environmental justice does not stop at the prison gates. {See our sample letter when you click "start writing" to the right.}

Note: A letter-writing campaign is also occurring through SierraRise. Along with generating these letters via email, the Human Rights Defense Center's Prison Ecology Project will be gathering and hand-delivering the letters to EPA officials in June 2016 as part of the Campaign to Fight Toxic Prisons.
