Impeach Pam Bondi and Hold the Justice Department Accountable
Right-wing MAGA Commentator Tim Pool called for her resignation. MAGA extremist Erick Erickson said her performance alone justified serious consequences. Republican Rep. Thomas Massie publicly criticized Bondi’s refusal to answer clear oversight questions. That’s just the right-wing. Texas Democratic Rep. Marc Veasey has already drafted articles of impeachment.
Congressional hearings on the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files were supposed to deliver transparency, but instead, it continued to expose a major crisis at the Department of Justice.
Attorney General Pam Bondi repeatedly refused to give direct answers when members of Congress asked whether all Epstein-related materials had been reviewed, cataloged, and prepared for full public release. She interrupted questioners, deflected to talking points about “ongoing processes,” and attacked the motives of lawmakers pressing for disclosure.
Under Bondi’s leadership, the Justice Department has released unredacted nude photographs of young women and teenagers from the Epstein files. Survivors’ names and identifying details were made public. Attorneys for victims say the release retraumatized survivors and put their safety at risk, while the wealthy men who abused children remain protected.
The abuse of power by Pam Bondi’s Justice Department doesn’t stop with the Epstein files cover-up.
Bondi has attempted to force states to give the DOJ private voter data. She explicitly told Minnesota they must hand over their voter files if they wanted ICE to leave. The FBI, under direction of the Justice Department, seized records, voter rolls, and other data at the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center in Georgia.
The DOJ has also had at least two journalists, Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, arrested in connection with an anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota church.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out the Justice Department “for using its power to intimidate, surveil, and punish,” warning that voter data seizures and journalist arrests point to a dangerous consolidation of power inside the DOJ.
Now, a bipartisan effort to impeach Attorney General Pam Bondi has emerged.
When voices across ideological lines are demanding accountability, Congress cannot pretend that nothing happened.
Bondi oversees the most powerful law enforcement agency in the country. Her handling of one of the most high-profile criminal cases in modern history is only one of many reasons Congress must begin impeachment proceedings immediately -- but they need to feel public pressure to make it happen.
