Tell the Senate: Stop Trump’s USPS Board takeover now

Donald Trump is trying to take control of the United States Postal Service by forcing four wealthy corporate donors through the Senate and onto the USPS Board of Governors.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is moving quickly on Trump’s nominees: Jeffrey Brodsky, William Gallo, Anthony Lomangino, and Robert Steffens. If these four nominees are confirmed, the balance of power on the Postal Board shifts from two Democrats, one Republican, and one independent to five Republicans, two Democrats, and one independent.

That would give Trump a governing majority over the Board at the exact moment his administration is escalating its plan to privatize the USPS and attack vote by mail.

The Board has enormous power. It helps shape service and delivery standards, pricing, and election mail policy, and has hire-fire power over the Postmaster General. A Trump majority on the Board would put the future of the Postal Service in the hands of wealthy corporate donors and financiers with no record of public service and no desire to protect universal service.

Anthony Lomangino is a Trump megadonor and a repeat nominee from Trump’s last attempt to stack the Board. The rest of the slate comes from corporate finance, restructuring, commodities, and dealmaking backgrounds. These are the exact worlds that treat public institutions like assets to cut, shrink, and sell off.

We stopped Trump’s last slate of nominees in committee last year because people across the country spoke out. That is why the administration is moving quickly now. They know public pressure can stop this.

The threat is bigger now. Trump has already installed a FedEx-linked Postmaster General. He already tried to fire the Postal Board and move USPS under the Commerce Department. He has already issued an executive order attacking vote by mail. If he gets a majority on the Postal Board, his privatization agenda and voter suppression agenda get stronger at the same time.

Every Senator needs to hear from us. They need to know that voting for these nominees means voting to destroy the Postal Service as we know it and is an immense threat to vote by mail this election year.

Click “START WRITING” to tell your Senators: vote NO on Trump’s USPS Board nominees in committee and vote NO if these nominations reach the Senate floor.
