Final Letter to Urge Metro to Stop the LA ART Gondola Project

Dear Friends,

Can you please send one more letter prior to Metro's Board meeting on Thursday, December 4th to protest their expected approval of the new environmental impact report for Frank McCourt’s gondola to Dodger Stadium?

Last week, we were betrayed by Mayor Karen Bass and Supervisor Hilda Solis at Metro’s Executive Management Committee meeting! Both of them voted to approve the EIR and the project — despite the fact that the Los Angeles City Council voted to oppose the EIR and the gondola!

Bass betrayed her own city council, and Solis went back on her word. We were told that Solis would go along with the other local elected officials who represent the districts that would be impacted by the gondola: Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez, Ysabel Jurado, and Hugo Soto-Martinez. And we were told that Solis would urge the rest of the Metro Board to defer to them.

That would have been a game changer. Instead, Metro gave members of the public only 30 seconds each to comment on a complex Final EIR that was released less than 24 hours earlier. And then the committee voted hastily to approve the project, with Bass falsely claiming that they were just approving the EIR.

If the full Metro Board approves the EIR and gondola project on December 4th, they will shift the burden of analyzing the project to the City of Los Angeles and California State Parks, wasting millions of dollars of taxpayer money when the City Council has already voted to oppose the project.

Please send letters by 5pm on Wednesday, December 3rd. Your letter will go to BoardClerk@metro.net with a copy to stopthegondola@gmail.com.

Thanks again for your support!

Sincerely,

Stop the Gondola Coalition
