Fix “Check-the-Box” Scheduling Audits at VA Support the VA Accountability Through Scheduling Audit Reform Act of 2025

VA’s National Standardized Scheduling Audit Program has drifted into a check-the-box exercise that rarely proves better access to care. This bill forces a GAO evaluation, requires time-bound corrective action plans, and makes results public—so audits finally drive real fixes for veterans.

  • End empty audits: Recognizes audits have prioritized compliance reporting over outcomes.

  • Independent check: Directs GAO to evaluate whether the program improves access, finds system weaknesses, and needs redesign.

  • Real remediation: Requires facilities marked noncompliant to file root-cause corrective action plans with deadlines and accountable officials.

  • Public transparency: Publishes audit results, plans, and quarterly progress updates on a public VA site.
