Free SSG Robert Bales
Staff Sergeant Robert Bales served four combat tours in the aftermath of 9/11, putting his life on the line for our country. Today, he is a prisoner of war in his own country, serving a life sentence under a justice system that failed to uphold fairness, due process, and accountability. Before the facts of his case were even investigated, President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panneta publicly condemned him and demanded the harshest punishment, compromising his right to a fair trial.
SSG Bales’ case is not just about one soldier — it’s about the principle that those who serve should be given the same constitutional protections they fight to defend. His trial was plagued by political pressure, withheld evidence, and unreliable testimony from enemy combatants — all while thousands of Taliban and ISIS fighters have been freed due to shifting U.S. policy.
Despite everything, Robert Bales has used his time in prison to better himself. He’s earned multiple college degrees, become a licensed barber, and remained a devoted father and husband. He represents rehabilitation, resilience, and the American spirit.
