Siskiyou County: Fund Our Community, Invest in IHSS!

Siskiyou's care system is in crisis.
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a social service that gives people in Siskiyou County the freedom to stay in our community by receiving essential long-term care at home. In times of crisis like wildfires or storms, IHSS caregivers are often the first to respond for your elderly neighbors and neighbors with disabilities who receive their care.
But for too many years, Siskiyou IHSS caregivers have remained the only IHSS caregivers in California earning minimum wage and lacking the same worker protections as caregivers in other counties.
As wages lag behind and it becomes harder for IHSS caregivers us to keep food on the table and gas in the car, many are leaving the care industry, and sometimes our community.
More and more community members will lose access to the essential long-term care they need to stay in Siskiyou County as our IHSS caregivers leave the industry to pursue jobs that allow them to better provide for themselves and their families.
Siskiyou Supervisors can address this issue by raising wages for IHSS caregivers.
Send a letter to Siskiyou Supervisors and urge them to do what's right for their constituents by funding essential long-term care for our neighbors and raising wages for caregivers.
