Tell Congress to Fully Fund Federal Housing for People with Disabilities

Across the U.S., people with disabilities face some of the highest rates of poverty, housing instability, homelessness, and forced institutionalization. Nationwide, federal rental assistance is helping 2.6 million people with disabilities, while more than 18 million disabled people are eligible but are not receiving assistance.

The Trump Administration has proposed drastically cutting and changing programs that people rely on, but Congress can protect and expand federal housing assistance!

Congress is working on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget, and your representatives need to hear from you about the importance of maintaining and increasing housing assistance for all, including people with disabilities! This includes the Department of Housing & Urban Development's (HUD) 811 program and Housing Choice Vouchers, among other critical programs.

As you advocate, you may hear about housing-related proposals that include things like "carve-outs" or other administrative red tape like "work requirements" or "time limits", which don't work and will disproportionately impact disabled people and their families.

Now, please join us in telling your members of Congress to safeguard and expand housing assistance!
