At the cost of our humanity and billions of dollars wasted, mass deportations are tearing our communities apart. Instead of prioritizing health and well-being our legislators have time and again voted to sacrifice our rights, humanity, and health coverage in service of Trump's mass deportation agenda.
But we aren’t intimidated and we aren’t buying it. Immigrants are welcome here and immigrants have helped build our community—especially after devastating natural disasters like hurricanes Katrina, Ivan, and Michael. After immigrants had our backs then, we owe it to our immigrant community to fight to end the betrayals of their contributions.
Immigrants provide much more than the parasitic class of billionaires and oligarchs which help to stoke the hatred against the other, be they immigrants or trans people just trying to live their lives. We say no more bigotry, and no more excuses.
Immigrants didn't break our migration system, politicians did. Donald Trump and the rubberstamp House and Senate are shredding protected statuses of migrants, pushing more and more into an undocumented status and the deportation dragnet. This engineered crisis can come to an end if we simply expand citizenship to those who have already earned it and contribute greatly to our society.
