Governor Spanberger Needs to Support Data Center Bills

Hugh Kenny PEC

It is time to ask Governor Spanberger to support critical data center legislation. The House of Delegates killed bills that would have (a) saved Virginians money on electricity bills and (b) made it harder to build more dirty fossil fuel energy generation plants. The Senate companion bills passed and have now “crossed over” to be reconsidered in the House. Given the history of the House vote, it is imperative to let Governor Spanberger know that Virginians support these bills. Please ask her to lend her support to SB339 (Perry) and SB619 (Srinivasan) today. In addition, we want to ensure that the Senate passes Delegate Rip Sullivan’s HB897, that links the astronomically generous tax incentives to data centers in exchange for procuring renewable energy and operate back up diesel (carbon dioxide emitting) generators only in emergencies.
