Grand Boulevard Restriping
Grand Boulevard is set to be restriped from 14th Avenue to 29th Avenue and the City of Spokane Transportation Commission is soliciting feedback prior to making a final recommendation at its February 18th meeting.
This is a much needed change, as Grand Boulevard regularly sees vehicles traveling at speeds in excess of 40 mph, despite posted speed limits of 30 mph (and 20 mph adjacent to Manito Park).
The Commission is soliciting feedback on two options:
Option 1:
Reduce Grand Blvd. to three lanes. One lane in each direction and one center turn lane. This option is expected to reduce crashes by 24% and will significantly reduce the severity of those crashes due to lower overall traffic speeds.

Option 2:
Maintain the four lanes on Grand Blvd. and reconfigure one of the existing northbound lanes into a center turn lane. While this option is also projected to reduce crashes, southbound traffic speeds will stay high.

Please send the Transportation Commission a quick note of support for Option 1.
