Tell the GR City Commission: Pass the CAAP on Aug. 12 and vote 'Yes' for a brighter future

The CAAP: Building a Brighter Future for You

The Climate Action & Adaptation Plan (CAAP) is our city’s roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 62.8% by 2030. It's science-based, community-informed, and centered on equity, public health, and resilience.

On August 12, the City Commission will vote on whether to adopt the plan. While the CAAP has strong public support, it still faces opposition—and your voice is critical to ensure it passes.

Here's why this plan matters:

  • Reduces pollution and improves air quality for you and your family

  • Lowers your housing and energy costs through efficiency and clean energy

  • Centers equity and community leadership

  • Creates green jobs and economic opportunity for your neighbors

  • Prepares your neighborhood for extreme weather and climate impacts

This is not just a city government plan—it’s a community-wide framework to guide local climate solutions.

Use our template tool to send a quick, personalized message urging a YES vote on August 12. (Please be sure to include a sincere note of thanks the commissioners who already voted to move it forward: Commissioners Knight, Ysasi, Kilgore, Perdue.)

Grand Rapids needs bold, coordinated climate action. The CAAP is how we get there.

Send a message to our city's Commissioners and Mayor today to tell them to support the CAAP on August 12th and beyond.
