Guttmacher Institute Needs to Live Up To Its Ideals and Settle a Fair First Contract
Dear Herminia Palacio and other interested parties,
We, Guttmacher Institute workers and community supporters, demand that the Institute live up to its ideals of equity, justice, and collaboration in which all people can realize their rights and access the resources they need to achieve bodily autonomy and overall well being.
For over a year we, the members of Guttmacher Employees United, have been bargaining in good faith for a fair first contract to create a workplace that supports staff in achieving these ideals. Over the course of bargaining, management has consistently refused to agree or compromise on our major asks.
We are asking for an increase in pay and parental leave, abortion care funding, and flexibility in our work schedule, as we are living in a time of economic uncertainty and attacks on reproductive autonomy.
We have already adjusted our demands based on disagreement with management, but it has gotten to a point where conceding any further on our remaining demands will leave Guttmacher staff with a contract that fails to provide the workplace we envision. This lack of agreement or fair compromise by management has stalled our ability to finalize a contract.
We ask for our members and supporters to sign this petition to tell Guttmacher management to work with us for a fair compromise on these asks.
