- Increased high school drop-out rates
- An increased risk of future poverty, particularly for teen moms
- Up to 80% divorce rates
- Greater vulnerability to domestic & sexual violence and human trafficking
- Increased medical and mental health problems
- This is not typically a case of teenage love, but young girls marrying abusive men, oftentimes double their age or older
- The question of "legitimacy" is not a thing anymore! All benefits confer whether born to military or civilian parents.
We must end this human rights abuse that traps vulnerable young girls and impacts their access to education, social services, and is linked to sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, financial abuse, early pregnancy and physical and mental health consequences.
