For any community to survive and thrive, individuals need to safely access spaces like hospitals, schools, and other areas essential to our well-being.

In America, parents have been arrested while taking their child to a hospital for medical care. Five-year-olds leaving preschools have been used as bait for their parents and subsequently detained and flown out of their home state. Federal agents are behaving outside the law and the bounds of basic humanity.

HB1440 prohibits employees and representatives of these areas from allowing federal immigration agents to enter protected areas.

This bill provides accountability to our communities by creating a Class 1 misdemeanor for those who choose to violate this provision and/or provide information to federal immigration agents.
