Help Stop Deep Sea Mining
The deep sea is one of the most mysterious, untouched realms of creation-a place that has existed for millions of years without human disruption. As Pope Francis writes in Laudato Si' "The exploitation of the planet has already exceeded acceptable limits and we still have not solved the problem of poverty." Deep sea mining is being pushed by a sliver of speculative startup companies. Even legacy corporations who initially looked into the practice in the 1970's have recognized the damage and cost and walked away. The remaining proponents have no proven track record and no social license to operate. Congress MUST hear that the ocean belongs to all of us, not just to speculative interests looking to extract wealth from a place nobody gave them permission to touch. Your voice matters-your messages remind Congressional representatives that not everything that could be exploited, should be.
