Help support Miami faculty and librarians!
Faculty and librarians at Miami University voted overwhelmingly in 2023 to unionize. We unionized to protect Miami's educational mission by ensuring that our working conditions, especially compensation and job security, reflect the Love and Honor that all students and faculty deserve, regardless of identity, title, or rank.
Miami University is the largest employer in Butler County, and faculty and librarians are the reason Miami remains in the top 3 public universities in the country for undergraduate teaching. Whether you are a Miami alum, a current student, parent of a student, or a community member, faculty and librarians need your support!
We began negotiations with university administration in August 2023, and while we have made good progress, management has been dragging these negotiations out while spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on anti-union lawyers.
University administration has offered a dismal compensation package with 1.25% raises, refused to bargain over shared governance, and proposed weakening job security for faculty and librarians at all levels. These proposals would damage Miami University's ability to attract and retain quality faculty and librarians. University administration also only meets with us two times a month, increasing the cost of negotiations and slowing our ability to make meaningful progress.
We need supporters to tell Miami administration to stop dragging these negotiations out. It's past time for them to respond on key aspects of the contract, a fair wage, and job security to fulfill the academic mission of the university. By signing, you will be protecting Miami's educational mission and its commitment to Love and Honor for all. Please support us by sending letters to Miami's President and Senior Vice President of Finance to tell them to give us a fair contract!
