Help VA Democrats fight back!
Let your Virginia Reps know you support starting the redistricting process
Virginia Democratic Legislators are taking the first step toward redrawing Congressional maps, a move that could give the party two or three more seats in Congress.
This would make Virginia the second state, after California, to try to counter a wave of Republican moves demanded by Donald Trump to redistrict states to GOP advantage before the 2026 midterm elections.
The United States would be better off with a Congress that is not gerrymandered, but that is not an option. If Democrats fight Republicans’ gerrymandering with more gerrymandering, perhaps Republicans will give up their effort to skew Congress in their direction. Even if Republicans learn nothing from Democrats’ counter-gerrymandering, the new map will make Congressional representation better reflect the politics of the nation’s citizens.
