Holistic, smart and just siting for transforming our grid! Siting Improvement with Environmental Justice!

We need to build a truly sustainable, distributed grid powered by clean energy, for example with solar on every home, school and church. Our grid of the past with companies like Eversource and National Grid are threatened by this vision.

Our energy facility siting system is broken. Utility companies like Eversource and National Grid exploit our minimal siting system to maximize their profits at the expense of communities and ratepayers. They build expensive projects, in communities that fight them tooth and nail, many of which will be useless in years to come. Trying to steamroll environmental justice communities for more facilities results in lawsuits, delays and wasted resources.

We need a holistic full Siting Board that right-fits facilities. When you do community outreach and equitable analysis, we will make better decisions, not pay for the things that we don’t need in places that don’t make sense.

We need a clean energy transition, and it's the utilities holding us up. What’s actually holding up the clean energy transition? When communities and households want to transition to solar, batteries and energy efficiency? When communities like Chelsea want to have a microgrid- it's the utility companies like Eversourcce and National Grid drag their feet.

That’s why we’re proposing the Siting Improvement Bill- to green light good projects and nip bad projects in the bud. Our bill updates the Siting Board to incorporate public health and climate into approval criteria. Our bill also requires upfront community engagement and analysis, prohibition of more pollution in already overburdened communities, stopping bad projects early before they waste time and resources.
