Every person in Michigan needs access to safe, secure, and stable housing.

In order to improve access, Michigan needs to pass legislation that protects prospective renters by enacting legislation statewide that would protect them from being denied housing based on their:

• Source of Income
• Prior arrests or conviction
• Credit score
• Prior eviction due to fleeing domestic violence

Additionally, Michigan should develop a system to provide for a tenants right to counsel, and enact legislation enshrining a tenant's bill of rights and a homeless bill of rights.
