I support investment in community-based alternatives to youth incarceration!

Hello,

This General Assembly session, the Governor has proposed investing in more community-based treatment programs for youth in the juvenile justice system.

Send an email today to tell legislators on the Senate Finance Committee and House Appropriations Committee that Virginia should invest in the best juvenile justice system for Virginia’s youth and communities, which includes a continuum of community-based alternatives to incarceration, and small (ideally 24 beds), regional, secure facilities for high risk youth, so that they can remain closer to their homes, communities, and support networks.

Show your support in person! There will be discussion of the DJJ budget at the following meetings. Supporters are encouraged to attend.

  • Senate Finance Public Safety Sub-committee meets Wednesday, January 27th at 7:30am, 10th Floor Conference Room in the General Assembly Building
  • House Appropriations Public Safety Sub-committee meets Thursday, January 28th at 10:00am, 9th Floor Appropriations Room in the General Assembly Building

Sincerely,

Jeree Thomas, RISE for Youth
