ICE has been coming into our communities in Lowell and the rest of the Merrimack Valley without uniforms or badges, and with bandanas covering their faces. They are often without valid warrants, hanging out where they think they can catch people. The municipal government in the City of Lowell has said very little about this, despite the exponential increase in these raids over time. The Lowell Police Department has publicly stated that they are cooperating with ICE. Immigrant Rights groups here have been distributing Know Your Rights cards, but what good are those when ICE isn’t following the law?
