Immigrant Legal Defense Act: Ensuring Access to Equitable Representation in Immigration Proceedings

Write your legislators now—our communities are watching, and they need to feel the urgency from the streets in Massachusetts. We’re facing an escalating crisis with ICE detentions tearing families apart, and our lawmakers haven’t done enough. It’s time to turn up the pressure.

The Massachusetts House budget includes $5 million for the Legal Defense Fund, but the Senate budget currently provides no funding at all.

State Senators must support Amendment  847 filed by Sen. Gomez, which would add $10 million to the Senate budget for the Immigrant Legal Defense Fund. This funding is critical to ensure that immigrants have access to legal representation and a fair shot at staying with their families and communities.

Let your Senator know: We see what’s happening, we know what they’re (not) doing, and we expect bold action—now.
