Urge Great Lakes Water Authority, South Huron Valley Utility Authority and Van Buren Township Water and Sewer to place a moratorium on hyperscale data center water access
The Michigan water infrastructure is currently at near end of life status. There are community concerns that adding high demand Hyperscale data center clusters into the infrastructure, will only add to the already compromised system putting communities at risk. The Belle Isle Intake, South West Wayne Treatment Plant and Wick Rd and Ypsilanti pump stations are a part of the infrastructure that services Vanburen township and surrounding communities, and they are all on the Great Lakes Water Authority list for capital improvements that are not completed yet. However, they are willing to add the Google hyper scale data center, as well as other nearby hyperscale data centers to this infrastructure that is already compromised. As a result, we are calling on the GLWA, South Huron Valley Utility Authority and Vanburen Township Water and Sewer to place a 12 month moratorium on water supply to these entities until the vital repairs are completed.
