Keep Marcia Home

Let Marcia Stay

February 27 2025 - Victory for Marcia! Deportation Cancelled! ✊🏽

Thanks to everyone mobilizing in support of Marcia - after thousands of letters sent and calls made to Canadian immigration and Canada Border Services Agency in the past 2 days, the Canadian govt is now issuing a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) for Marcia and cancelling her removal on Friday. This is a huge victory for Marcia, her daughter, and her beloved communities. 🎉

Marcia’s fight is part of a much bigger struggle. There is a racist anti-migrant push in Canada to increase deportations, and restrict access to permanent residency for countless migrants and refugees like Marcia. 🌸 Movements against gentrification in the Downtown Eastside, to fighting for Land Back from the Yintah to Palestine, to ending all border and all policing violence: struggles against capitalist and colonial displacement are connected. ❤️

End the war on migrants! Freedom to Stay, Freedom to Move, Freedom to Return! 🦋

Canada Border Services Agency wants to deport Marcia on February 28 2025. She submitted an Permanent Residency application in August 2024 and is still waiting for a decision.

Marcia, a survivor of domestic violence in Chile, sought refuge in Canada after the judicial system in her home country failed to protect her. Since her arrival in 2021, Marcia has shown immense strength and resilience, dedicating herself to rebuilding her life. She trained as an electrical worker and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where she contributes to alleviating the significant labour shortage in the electrical trade. She is currently working at the new St Paul’s Hospital as part of the Controls Crew. Those who know Marcia describe her as a hardworking, compassionate individual with a deep commitment to social causes, volunteering with multiple organizations, including Britannia Community Services Centre, Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House, and the City in Colour Cooperative.

Write a letter urgently calling on Minister Miller and the Canadian government to halt Marcia's deportation. Over the past six months, the government has introduced several policies that increasingly target and restrict migrants' access to immigration status and announced that they were abandoning their plans for a regularization program. Marcia’s case is not an isolated one—she represents countless other migrants who are at risk of deportation under these harmful policies. Her loss would be a devastating blow not only to her but also to the community where she has made such significant contributions.
