Donald Trump wants his face minted onto a new $1 coin and his signature printed across future paper currency. This is not patriotism. It is presidential propaganda paid for by the public.

An 1866 law already bars the Treasury from putting the portraits of living individuals on U.S. currency, because presidents are not kings and America is not a monarchy. The Trump administration is arguing that the 2020 Semiquincentennial Act and the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act created a loophole they can exploit.

The Treasury is a public institution, not Trump’s personal gift shop, campaign billboard, or branding department.

The Change Corruption Act would clarify the law and stop living and sitting presidents from stamping themselves onto the money in our pockets. No exceptions.
