Donald Trump has nominated Jeffrey Brodsky and William Gallo to fill two of the four vacancies on the USPS Board of Governors in an attempt for complete control.

Trump still sees the post office as a key target for his relentless voter suppression scheme and wants to undermine the Postal Service so he and his greedy buddies can swoop in and privatize it. Fortunately, the Senate can still stop this from happening by voting no and rejecting their confirmations.

Brodsky and Gallo are wealthy corporate Trump donors and financiers. They have no record of defending the public Postal Service, postal workers, rural access, affordable mail, or vote by mail. Neither of them will provide the independent leadership the USPS needs to stand up and fight back.

Let’s be clear about what’s at stake: The Board controls delivery standards, post office access, postal leadership, election mail, and more. It also holds hire-and-fire power over the Postmaster General. All the levers Trump needs to do whatever he wants with the USPS.

If Trump wants to try again to get the Postal Service to help restrict vote by mail? He would have it.

If Trump wants to privatize the USPS and sell off its parts to his wealthy corporate donor buddies and private carriers? He would have it.

If the Senate confirms Trump’s picks now, they’ll be locked in and in place ready to take orders from him come the 2028 election.

People across the country have already forced the Senate and the Board to back off earlier takeover attempts. Public pressure can still kill a nomination that has not had a confirmation vote of the full Senate.

Every senator needs to hear that a yes on Brodsky and Gallo is a vote to hand Trump the power to sabotage election mail, jack up prices, gut universal service and privatize the post office.
