King County: Keep AI Out of Our Libraries!

Tell King County: No AI in our libraries

According to an email sent to staff, KCLS is "exploring how AI can support KCLS's mission for patrons and staff." Library staff report that management has said they want AI to help patrons be "more self-sufficient."

Libraries are one of the last remaining public spaces, and library workers are a critical part of a healthy library. We should be empowering workers and fully staffing libraries, not wasting money on unreliable slop machines.

Send an email to KCLS leadership demanding they keep AI out of any public-facing library system, and adopt a ban on AI-generated content in the library catalog.

If you can, show up at one of the upcoming KCLS Artificial Intelligence Community Listening Sessions and let them know in person that King County residents want human connection, not AI slop.
