Less Bumpy Berkeley
Invest in a better and less bumpy Berkeley
Last year's article says it all:
Berkeley’s streets are getting worse and it could take $328M to fix them, report finds - Berkeley streets are among the worst in the Bay Area. (1)
We can no longer underfund street repairs - currently fixed at $1.9 million for over ten years)!
Our City Public Works Department says we need $14 million total to keep roads in their current condition – without additional improvements.

Support Councilmember Kate Harrison's proposal to spend $8 million now as a down payment while we develop a long-term solution and find ways to save on what could be $1 billion in future road repairs.
Support better tracking of how Berkeley collects and spends its existing revenue sources without any need to raise taxes.
Urge the Mayor and City Council to be more transparent in the budget and make funds available for our immediate capital needs.
