Letter of Support for Tom Smith

Please note that Letters of Support need to be submitted by 5:00 PM EST on December 29, 2022.

Montgomery County is doing well for some, but not all. Despite being in one of the wealthiest counties in America, there are still areas of this district that are being left behind, and Tom is committed to working for them. The wealth gap has increased, especially in communities of color, where 80% of families do not earn a livable wage and child poverty is skyrocketing.

As a foster parent of 3 wonderful boys, Tom and his wife Amy, see first hand the disparities throughout District 14. During the primary election, Tom personally knocked on over 6,000 doors and asked friends and neighbors to share what their top issue is. Tom is a community leader with the courage to care who wants to represent YOU as your next D14 Delegate.

Tom has worked as a Congressional Staffer for Rep. Andy Kim, as Congressional Policy Director for the Veteran-focused For Country Caucus, and is currently a Commissioner for Juvenile Justice in Montgomery County. Since the July 2022 primary, Tom has been serving on the Wes Moore and Aruna Miller team and is proud to have helped elect Maryland’s first immigrant Lieutenant Governor and first African American Governor in the state.

The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee has the authority to recommend our next delegate to the Governor for appointment. In order to make the process more democratic they are asking voters to send in letters of support for their candidate of choice. Please consider signing a letter of support for Tom Smith today.
