Make Polluters Pay: Urge NJ Legislators to Pass the Climate Superfund Act

The climate crisis is intensifying in New Jersey. With extreme weather now becoming a frequent occurrence, and last year’s drought creating a wave of wildfires, we can’t afford to ignore the threat – and costs – of climate change. With Trump’s ongoing cuts to funding for climate action, environmental protection and emergency response, New Jersey is more at risk than ever.

While climate change currently costs New Jersey taxpayers billions, the wealthiest fossil fuel corporations continue to rake in record profits.

It’s past time to hold Big Oil and Gas accountable.

The New Jersey Climate Superfund Act (S3545/A4696) is groundbreaking legislation that would make the largest fossil fuel corporations that operate in NJ pay their share of the damages caused by climate change. All funds would go to projects that help communities recover from and become more resilient to climate change and extreme weather events.

The Climate Superfund Act will make New Jersey more affordable and more resilient by making polluters pay for the costs of climate change – and ensuring that those funds go to climate adaptation.

Send a message to your legislators, calling on them to support & pass the Climate Superfund Act!
