Make Rochester’s minimum wage a living wage: $23/hour

Let’s fight to make Rochester’s minimum wage a living wage: $23/hour
Working class Rochester families are facing an affordability crisis. One-third of Rochester’s population lives below the poverty line because wages aren't keeping up with rent, grocery costs, and utilities bills. This is unacceptable. It’s time we grow a movement to #RaiseTheWage in Rochester.
Raising the minimum wage means healthier lives, stronger families, and a brighter future for our community. When New York City raised the minimum wage from $9 to $15, the city saw the greatest reduction in child poverty in 50 years.
Raising the wage is also good for the economy. Research shows wage increases can lead to job growth. Minimum wage increases also don't reduce employment, even during economic downturns.
There is popular support for our movement. Over 60% of Rochester residents across the political spectrum support raising the minimum wage to at least $20/hour. Among Democrats, 80% support a minimum wage of at least $20/hour. Join us to call on the City Council and the Mayor to pass legislation so Rochester workers get a minimum wage of $23/hour.
