Maryland Legislators: Protect Marylanders from ICE!
For the past year, we’ve been inundated with stories, photos and videos of ICE dragging people from their cars, their homes, and ripping apart Maryland families. While we can’t stop ICE from coming into Maryland, or prevent their horrific actions at the direction of the federal government, Maryland’s legislators can act to protect our communities from ICE. Our legislators must uphold our state’s core values—fairness, dignity, and justice for all—while keeping our communities safe.
There are several important bills being introduced to protect immigrant families from the federal administration, including:
SB1 / HB155: A mask ban for law enforcement, including ICE, so they can’t hide their identity and intimidate people.
SB245 / HB444: Bans 287(g) agreements in Maryland, which allow county law enforcement to be deputized as ICE agents.
Join us in telling our legislators to pass these two crucial bills to protect our immigrant neighbors!
