Send a Letter to your Legislators to Protect Communities and Hold Massive Corporations Accountable for Their Truck Pollution

Some of the wealthiest corporations in the world are building hundreds of giant warehouses in our communities. Each warehouse brings thousands of polluting trucks to our neighborhoods that spew diesel soot into our homes, schools and businesses. This problem continues to grow as companies offer faster and faster deliveries. The amount of warehouses in New York has boomed in the last twenty years with the huge growth in the last ten years.

In areas like the South Bronx — where 40% of residents live below the poverty line and 95% identify as Hispanic or Black — over 15,000 diesel trucks spew dangerous pollution into the community every day. This onslaught is causing dangerous health impacts, largely because of this relentless tailpipe pollution. 1 in every 5 children in the South Bronx has asthma — that is eight to twelve times the national average.

By failing to act on warehouse pollution, Governor Hochul is taking away New Yorkers' right to clean air and allowing more pollution into our communities, which will lead to increased health care costs, more ER visits, more lost workdays, and more missed school days.

It’s past time for these massive corporations to do their part. The cost of convenience does not have to be our lungs. There are multiple ways that warehouses can clean up their act and support New York’s transition to cleaner transportation. 2026 can be the year that New York puts the health of our communities first and holds massive polluters accountable to being better neighbors.
