Tell KKR: Don't invest in the Coastal GasLink pipeline and respect Indigenous rights now!

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, TC Energy is still going ahead with construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline and sending more workers and federal police officers onto Wet’suwet’en territories, putting communities at even more risk. Billionaire oil and gas CEOs see the COVID-19 crisis as an opportunity to push through whatever they can when the world is looking the other way.

The Coastal GasLink pipeline threatens Wet’suwet’en land, water, air, and people.

We must push for KKR to back out of its CGL investment. As a major investor in the project, they need to recognize the rights and title of the communities they are impacting, and back out of this toxic pipeline.

Precedence has been set for this - in the last few years alone, a number of strategic investors have pulled out of proposed LNG projects in Canada, including Chevron Corp., Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Exxon Mobil Corp., CNOOC Ltd. and Petronas Bhd. Furthermore, in March 2020, Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. pulled out of Energie Saguenay, a liquified natural gas project in Quebec, citing the current Canadian political context following several weeks of rail blockades in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs.

If we #ShutDownKKR, we can stop the Coastal GasLink Pipeline — but we need to mobilize online together. KKR must be held accountable for defying the Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs, wanting to put Indigenous land and people at risk, and fueling the climate crisis.

Message KKR's top executives and tell them to divest from TCEnergy's Coastal GasLink pipeline right now.
