MP letter action: call on Starmer to show up for the climate

COP30, the annual UN climate change summit, is taking place in November in Belem, Brazil. As the climate crisis escalates, this is probably the most significant climate summit since Paris ten years ago. However, the UK media have reported Keir Starmer is not planning to attend. This would be a shocking failure of leadership.
In the words of former UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon: “World leaders must be in Belem for Cop30... Attendance is not a courtesy – it is a test of leadership. This is the moment to lock in stronger national commitments, and the finance to deliver them, especially for adaptation. The world is watching – and history will remember who showed up.”
You can read more here about why it is so important for Starmer to go to COP30 and actively support climate action, not stay away and let Trump and Farage dominate the narrative.
Please write to your MP and ask them to call on the Prime Minister to show up for the climate and attend COP30 in person.
