Patty is the last Asian elephant at the Bronx Zoo, following the recent death of Happy, another Asian elephant held captive there since the 1970s. Despite numerous attempts by advocates to rally for her freedom, and Happy’s before his untimely demise, Patty remains imprisoned.

A group of New Yorkers has boldly petitioned for Patty’s freedom, but they need your help.

If you are a New York resident, please email Adam Falk, President and CEO of the Wildlife Conservation Society, and ask him to release Patty to an accredited sanctuary. It's a quick and easy way to take a stand against the cruelty of captivity.

We have provided a sample letter for you, but adding your own words can greatly increase impact.

With your support, we will bring an end to the torment of captivity. Thank you for your continued compassion for animals and willingness to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Sample Letter:

Dear Mr. Falk,

As a resident of the state of New York, I am requesting that you release Patty to an accredited sanctuary.

Elephants are complex and social animals. Patty’s isolation, especially in light of the recent death of Happy, is cruel and unnecessary. She deserves the freedom to live out her golden years with other elephants, out of the public eye.

Please do the right thing - send Patty to an accredited sanctuary.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

[your name]
