We Demand More Time to Comment on the Cross Bronx Expressway Project!

Proposing a nearly $900 million plan to modify the Cross Bronx Expressway, New York State has given Bronx residents only 52 days to review the nearly 6,000 page Cross Bronx “5 Bridges” Draft Environmental Assessment. This period is almost entirely consumed by winter holidays and an extended school break, effectively shutting families, Bronxites, and the public out of the process.

The project proposes major repairs and replacements to Cross Bronx Expressway bridges, and will affect traffic, air quality, noise, and neighborhood safety for decades. After nearly 70 years of harm from the Expressway, residents deserve a fair and accessible process— not a rushed holiday deadline— when trying to understand a major project’s implications on their lives.

Community, environmental justice, and transportation groups are calling on Governor Hochul and NYSDOT to extend the comment period to 90 days.

Add your name to tell Commissioner Dominguez and Governor Hochul to give Bronx communities the time and tools they need to meaningfully participate in the Cross Bronx Environmental Assessment!
