No Corporate Lobbyists on the Pinelands Commission!
Senate President Sweeney has delayed Governor Murphy’s original nominees for the Pinelands Commission for nearly 4 years, a blatant affront to good governance and environmental protection. The Governor’s belated response was to nominate 3 corporate lobbyists to replace respected, experienced and highly qualified environmentalists on the Commission. Shameful! This cynical move would hand a majority control of the Pinelands Commission over to the corporate lobbyists, who will put their industry’s needs ahead of protecting the Pinelands and our local communities. The Pinelands are an irreplaceable and priceless ecosystem, protecting the single largest source of clean water in NJ and make up the largest contiguous hardwood forest on the Atlantic Coast. Send a message to Senate President Sweeney and members of the Senate Judiciary Committee responsible for oversight of these critical nominees to reject these corporate lobbyists and work with the Governor to fill all vacant seats on the Pinelands Commission with qualified professionals who have a proven track record of environmental protection for the public, not corporate interest.
