This letter opposes another wet housing project in Penticton. Communities across Canada are saying NO to wet housing and onsite drug consumption, Penticton can too! Penticton already hosts multiple wet housing solutions with a lack of recovery based treatment options to treat serious root causes of homelessness such as addiction and mental health facilities. Another wet housing solution does not make our community a safer space; serious crime, theft vandalism, property damage, fires, aggressive individuals and biohazard concerns are increasing. It is inappropriate to house low income seniors and other situationally unhoused individuals on a wet site. The success of second stage housing relies on the support of the industrial businesses and the residents of Penticton - there is no more appetite or trust that wet solutions are working for Penticton.
