Now is the Time for Action on Right to Counsel
Justice in Evictions TODAY
The Massachusetts Right to Counsel Coalition is a campaign for justice in evictions. Our goal is to ensure that low income tenants and owner-occupant home owners have access to resources and full legal representation to help prevent an eviction and stabilize their housing.
Stop the Inequity in Evictions
In 2021, 90% of tenants did not have legal representation when facing eviction, while 86% of landlords had the benefit of legal representation. People need representation from start to finish for a complicated court process where the consequence is losing their home.
We Need YOUR Help
Time is of the essence because the Housing Committee has to take action on the Right to Counsel bills by May 9, 2022. A favorable report is the next step on the path to getting a Right to Counsel Program passed.
Help us urge the Housing Committee to report the Right to Counsel Program bills H.1436 and S.874 out of the Housing Committee favorably.
