Objections to FTC's Sham "Science"

The FTC, led by Commissioner Andrew Ferguson, is hosting a biased workshop titled "The Dangers of 'Gender-Affirming Care' for Minors" on July 9th. Framed as an investigation into deceptive trade practices, the event exclusively features critics, detransitioners, and activists, deliberately excluding mainstream medical perspectives. Orchestrated by FTC Senior Policy Advisor Jon Schweppe, former Policy Director at American Principles Project (APP), sessions led by APP (political leverage), Do No Harm (medical façade), and Our Duty USA (grassroots narratives) seek to ban gender affirming care (GAC) for minors, which they baselessly label as "child abuse." Their shared funding, personnel, and reliance on contested sources like the Cass Review aim to justify FTC investigations against healthcare providers, contradicting the overwhelming consensus of over 20 major medical associations, including the AMA and AAP, who endorse GAC as medically necessary and life-saving.

Denying GAC to transgender youth has devastating, well-documented consequences: drastically increased depression, anxiety, suicidality (attempts rise by up to 72% under bans), irreversible physical harm from forced puberty, dangerous unsafe alternatives, and severe financial/geographic burdens on families. Bans also cause systemic healthcare breakdowns through clinic closures, provider flight, harmful overcompliance, child abuse investigations against supportive parents, and erode vital research and advocacy. The Metro DC DSA Bodily Autonomy Working Group condemns these bans as attacks on bodily autonomy and life-saving care, fueled by political ideology, and calls for resistance against efforts like Trump's agenda to restrict transgender healthcare and reproductive rights.
