One last time for ADUs!
The Seattle City Council is considering amendments that would make it more difficult to build Accessory Dwelling Units, including:
- Prohibiting short-term rental use in ADUs. Short term rentals are often used by homeowners to offset the costs of building. In addition, other regulations already limit short-term rentals to one rental per owner.
- Requiring one-year ownership of the property before building a second ADU
- Requiring one parking space for a second ADU
In our dual climate and housing crises, making housing more difficult to build means less housing will be built, fewer people will be able to live low-carbon lifestyles in our city, and future affordable housing will be more difficult to construct. Please encourage Council to limit regulations on building ADUs!
